        What is a cash trading account?

        A cash trading account allows you to trade only with the funds available in your account. You are not able to finance your trades. Our Basic Trading Account is a form of cash trading account. It provides access to the iOCBC trading platforms for trading across 15 online exchanges, with additional markets available through a Trading Representative. The account supports trading in shares, warrants, DLCs, REITs, bonds and ETFs across supported markets.

        For share financing and other forms of leveraged trading, you can consider our Share Financing Account, Share Borrowing Account, Leveraged FX Account and Leveraged Futures Account.

        Must I fund my trades beforehand with an OCBC Securities Basic Trading Account?

        You may not need to fund your trades upfront when trading with our Basic Trading Account. You only need to settle your trades after a transaction is done. You can view here for more information on trade settlement.

        How does settlement work for trades made through this account?

        Settlement occurs after the trade is executed and follows the standard settlement cycle of the respective market. You only need to pay for purchases or deliver shares for sales on the settlement due date. Settlement timelines vary by exchange and product type.

        Commission rates for SGX trades depend on the contract value. Online trades range from 0.18% to 0.275%, with a minimum commission of S$25.         Do I need a CDP account to trade SGX shares?

        You may trade SGX shares via the iOCBC trading platform, and the shares can be custodised either directly in your own Central Depository (CDP) account or with OCBC Securities.

        Can I use leverage or margin with this account?

        You cannot use leverage or margin with a Basic Trading Account. This account is strictly meant for cash trading, where you trade based on available funds and settlement obligations.
