Risks of trading Cryptocurrency ETFs

High price volatility

Investors are exposed to the volatility of the underlying cryptocurrency resulting in larger swings in price compared to traditional assets. Due to their decentralised nature, cryptocurrency is not backed or supported by any central bank or government. Cryptocurrency is currently at a very nascent stage compared to other investment tools and have no intrinsic value.

Lack of price transparency

There is little price and market information around the issuance and distribution of cryptocurrencies, which can put investors at a disadvantage.

Cyber security risks

Cryptocurrency exchanges are often targeted by hackers making them vulnerable to theft and other security breaches. Such incidents can also result in severe price swings.

Unregulated status of payment token spot trading market

There are increased risks of market manipulation, fraudulent activities and cyber attacks in the cryptocurrency space owing to the lack of regulatory oversight.
